What is The Cost?

The Cost refers to "the cost" of following Jesus, of being a genuine disciple of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as highlighted in Matthew 8 and Luke 9. Recognizing the need for ongoing discipleship among the young adults of Living Water Fellowship, the pastors committed much time to prayer, sharing this vision with a number of young adults who have demonstrated a commitment to discipleship ministry in their lives. The Cost thus became their vision also – a vehicle by which the Holy Spirit would operate to bring biblical discipleship and life focus into the lives of the young adults (18 years and older) in our fellowship – building upon the foundation of parental investment.

What is the Vision of The Cost?

The vision of The Cost is much different from the traditional youth group, singles group, or "young married" group. As an extension of the ministry of Living Water Fellowship to the body of Christ, The Cost encourages young adults and those of all ages to pursue discipleship and ministry throughout life, including pre-existing church activities. As our name suggests, we are focused on discipleship, not activity; on following Christ, not on fun. Although fellowship/Bible study events are for young adults 18 years and older, the service outreach opportunities will not be unnecessarily age-restricted.

What Is the Purpose of The Cost?

-To challenge young adults to count the cost of discipleship
-To encourage young adults through a community of discipleship and service to take responsibility for their own spiritual walk
-To allow the Holy Spirit to work in the community of young adults

What Does The Cost Do?

-Serves as a clearinghouse for service/outreach ministry opportunities
-Assembles for worship, teaching, prayer, music, testimonies, etc.
-Provides accountability and encouragement through forums to share God's work in our lives and ask ourselves hard questions
-Encourages each individual to develop strong Timothy and Paul relationships within their lives

Who are involved in the leadership of The Cost?

The leadership core of The Cost consists of singles and couples in their twenties and thirties who have demonstrated a strong desire to serve the Lord within the body of Christ at Living Water Fellowship. This core is made up entirely of people from LWF; we are not a separate ministry, but rather an extension of the ministry goals of the pastors. The leadership of The Cost will coordinate events to bring the larger group of young adults, both from LWF and beyond, together for ministry and other activities where strong relationships can be formed for the purpose of discipleship. Our goal is to be a catalyst for the Holy Spirit to bring renewal and revival to the body.

Those currently serving in the leadership core are Joshua Baumgartner, David and Khristen Cohen, Brittany Barden, Nathan Hamilton, Brooke Gilliland, Bailey Gilliland, Josh Kraemer. We wish to thank Dr. Daryl and Colleen Rodriguez for their pivotal role as advisers in our launch and early efforts, and Joseph Graber and Lauren Bleser as founding members of the leadership team.
